My Story
My name is Tania Rahman and I've just signed up for Classic FM''s Big Walk. In fact, I've been involved with Global Charities or Global's Make Some Noise as it's now known as before. I've volunteered at charity events and even helped out in the office from time to time especially during phone appeals for fundraising and several years ago I was part of Team Heart when we took part in Race For Life. Recently I haven't done much except take part in Sport Relief for a couple of years and then I took part in Croydon Race For Life, on my own last year. It isn't much fun doing events like this on your own as I discovered. So I was very happy when I found this challenge, even if it is still a solo one. I can do this in my own time and I walk a lot, anyway. There are a lot of public spaces to walk and I have access to a treadmill.
So the walking is not the problem I can easily clock up well over 10,000 steps a day, it's coming up with creative ways to raise money. In fact I took part in the DofE Diamond Challenge in 2016 and raised £60 by selling savoury snacks at work, somosas to be exact; they went down a storm. People could not get their hands on them fast enough. Things have tightened up since then so I'm going to have to be a bit more discreet with the fundraising this year.
